Practical Steps to Genuine Happiness
Some time ago, working in my hypnotherapy and counseling practice confirmed for me what I already believed to be true: All we humans really want in life, is to be happy.  And yet we often find the achievement of this desire elusive.  Following a lifelong interest in motivation and the mind, I began studying the subject of happiness.

I also started looking around for material I could recommend to the people I was seeing, and found that much of the literature available was either aimed at academics or psychologists (and of little practical use to the lay person); or required acceptance of some cultural, religious, or philosophical dogma for the material to be personally relevant to the reader.

So I decided to do accept a challenge I had received a number of times before - to write the book I was looking for myself!  In doing so, my plan was to write a book that I wish had been available while I was looking for answers about life - an easy to read and understand manual; with sensible explanations and simple, practical techniques guiding the reader towards genuine happiness and a fulfilling life.

In his new book, Your Life Manual - Practical Steps to Genuine Happiness, David Ambrose asks, "Why not be happy?"  It's a simple enough question with an obvious answer but the fact that there is more to it than simply having the desire, is the thrust of this well written instruction manual on creating genuine happiness.

In part one, the author explains that a philosophy based on love, peace, freedom and harmony will ultimately lead to happiness but it has to start with you and me.  More and more we are discovering that everyone and everything is interconnected.  'What hurts me hurts you. What heals me heals you.'

Part two offers the reader ideas to help create a foundation for a practical way to apply these principles in our lives.  Adopting ideas like the belief in the absolute right to love, peace, freedom, harmony and happiness for everyone, striving for balance in our lives, understanding and respecting the fact that everything we do, say or think has consequences and that integrity, honesty, acceptance and forgiveness are absolutely necessary to create and sustain happiness in our lives, are some of the concepts offered that will help to create that foundation.

The transformation and how we get there is discussed in part three.  Ambrose takes us step by step through a number of practical exercises and in each step, he explains physical and psychological benefits of deep breathing, solitude and creating a time frame each day to practice the various lessons.

A series of articles in part four is presented for our illumination and provocation.  "Thinking about things is an enriching process."  The author refers to such 'things' as chaos, miracles and magic, the role of women, mind power vs. prayer, the healing mind, and chaos, karma and spirituality.  A series of affirmations and a suggestion list appear in appendixes A and B.

Ultimately, Your LIfe Manual - Practical Steps to Genuine Happiness by David Ambrose is a skillfully written, straightforward pathway to self-awareness with the understanding that we each have a responsibility to ourselves and to the rest of the world to become engaged with all creation through love, peace, freedom, and harmony.  This path of self-discovery is also a path to genuine happiness.
